Rotorua is the most visited place in New Zealand and should be on the top of your list! There are lot's of different activities to choose from in Rotorua. If you are traveling to this part of New Zealand you would be better off staying for a couple of days. But if you can't stay in Rotorua for longer than 1 day, please see this 1-day tour departing from Auckland. We have put together the main attractions Rotorua has to offer:
Our tour departs Auckland at 6.45am traveling south towards the Waikato region, stoping for a break in Huntly, where the main attraction is the Power Station (No, we don't visit the power station).
Our first stop will be at the ZORB, where you can take pictures or even try it! (extra cost). Kuirau Park and Ohinemutu come next.
Once in Rotorua, area of high geothermal activity, we visit Lake Rotorua, Government Gardens and the Jade Factory.
The Maori Village Te Whakarewarewa with its mud pools and geysers comes next! In "Whaka" we will learn a bit about the Maori culture: Its dance; their way of living; etc. After the Maori show there will be a guided tour in the village. We now leave Rotorua to go for a two-hour drive to the Waitomo region to visit the Kiwi House in Otorohanga.
After visiting Rotorua and the Kiwi House we head back to Auckland.
If you don't have much time in New Zealand, we strongly recommend this Rotorua 1 day tour departing from Auckland.
Best Value! Add the Waitomo Caves (most visited attraction in New Zealand!) to your Rotorua tour.
